There are three problems associated with this mandate:
When will Fiskiverket and Länstryssen implimet the mandate, seeing its been in existence since December 31st, 2006.
The EU directives concerning dioxin levels in Baltic salmon is now coming to the forefront in Sweden, and subject to finite confirmation that implementation and enforcement will take place. There is now a very real hope, that the commercial netting of salmon over 4 kg in the estuary of the Mörrumsån will cease, as it will become no longer profitable for the commercial fishermen and nets men. Additionally, it will be illegal to catch, take and keep any salmon over 4 kg by the commercial fishermen and nets men. Please note; the majority of salmon entering the Mörrumsån are over 4 kg's
Firstly, the reader must remember, that of all the enclosed is subject to confirmation by Fiskeriverket and Länsstyrelsen. The MFA are presently and actively pursuing, both authorities for timely answers, to get confirmation of what it means to the fishery, the local community, commercial fishermen and nets men. In lay-man terms:
As of 31st December, 2006, all dispensation for commercial fishing of Baltic salmon over 4 kg has stopped. No longer can salmon over 4 kgs be sold on commercial premises for human consumption.

How will it be enforced and by who? seeing as the target area is not patrolled by any authority whatsoever.

Once the MFA receive written confirmation from the authorities, we will do a mass-mailing exercise to the nets men, commercial fishermen, and all local business, advising them of the new rules and regulations.
