The Mörrumsån, a beautiful and picturesque river situated in the southeastern part of Sweden. recognized as Sweden's premier Salmon and Sea Trout river. Visited by anglers from many countries who fish it's famous and rugged pools for it's large Salmon up to and in excess of 20 kgs and Sea Trout to 13 + kgs, and throughout time has evolved to become a World class fishery. This fishery is unique, and is without parallel for it is resources and facilities, and with a clear historical mandate, that all people no matter whom and from where, are allowed to fish the river.
Presently, as is the case of many other game fishing rivers in Europe, the Mörrumsån is going through a period of readjustment, because both man and nature are having an ever increasing and detrimental affect on the river. As in the case of global warming, it has crept up on all of us, and it will have to be the "the helping hand of mankind" that make the changes that is required to reverse, recover and secure the future of the river.
In September of 2005, an independent non-profit organization, the Morrum Fishing Association (MFA) was formed, to help and to assist all those that are involved and responsible for the river and it is facilities. While at the same time being responsible to and for the special interests of it is members, sponsors, and all who fish the river.
The MFA realise, that to achieve a lasting result, it must be proactive and not allow a cosy consensus, inertia and intellectual laziness" to limit it's possibilities. Therefore, the MFA will assist and help all to view, new and better options. As the MFA believe, it will take a collective effort by all, and in all respects, to help secure the future of the river.
